Hi Righters! First of all, I'm sorry it took me awhile to get this description up... Hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! For our December meetup, we will meet at 4pm at Coffee Talk. This is a coffee house in Kaimuki on the corner of Waialae & 12th Ave. Here's your assignment for this next meetup: Write a 1-page essay on some political/social issue to share with the group. For those of you who were at the November meetup, you have topics to write on. For those of you who weren't, here are the topics you can choose from: - Homelessness - Healthcare - Hunger - The Environment - Afghanistan - Gay Marriage If you have not joined one of our meetups before, here some other ideas for things you can do/bring with you, if you like (but all that's required is you!): 1. Bring a writing goal for yourself to the meetup. Share the goal with the group, and we will support you in achieving it! If you've already shared a goal and/or have a project you are working on, bring an excerpt to share, and we will give you whatever kind of feedback you're looking for... 2. Start a blog and share the web address for it at our October meetup! Then, others can visit your blog and give you comments, feedback, etc. (One great place to start a blog is at http://wordpress.com/. It's free! I already started one there and have called it "Shelley 4 Peace." If you're interested, you can check it out at http://shelley4peace.wordpress.com/ Other members' blogs you can check out are Alex's at http://demetrius74.wordpress.com/ and Renita's at http://lutheraninparadise.wordpress.com/) 3. Bring a book that has inspired you. Share it with the group. This could be a book specifically on writing, a book you've read doing research for a project you're working on, or something that's inspired you in any way. Hope to see you at our December meetup! Aloha, Shelley
