WHAT: Paddle or Row your boat on Kenai River for Equinox Weekend --- Welcome back the boating season This is co-posted from the Anchorage Adventurers Meetup - the AA are doing it and Homer boaters are invited to come along too. Here is the link to details http://www.meetup.com/AnchorageAdventurers/calendar/12809500/ WHEN/WHERE: Meet where the Kenai River exits the lake at about 11 AM. Anchorage people will be leaving town about 8:15 AM so they are looking for about an 11 AM start. Hard core winter boaters go all the way to Jim's Landing. My plan is to take out somewhere well short of there so we enjoy the river and hopefully nice weather but do not stay on the water so long that it becomes uncomfortable. BRING: -- A paddle or row type boat - raft, inflatable kayak, pack raft, drift boat, canoe (if you are a class II solo canoer or tandem canoe team). -- Drysuit (optional but highly recommended. In Homer you can probably rent one from Tom Pogson) -- Rain gear and lots of warm non-cotton synthetic/ fleece clothing under the rain gear -- Extra dry clothing in a dry bag or trash bag/stuff sack double bagging -- Rubber boots or other waterproof footwear that will be warm for 3-5 hours on the river -- PFD - everyone MUST have and wear a PFD the entire time we are on the river and on the snowy/ icy banks near the river's edge. DOGS: If you want to bring one on your own boat that is your choice. RSVP: -- In your RSVP state what kind of boat you will be using. If you have a raft and can take extra people please include that # of passengers in your RSVP. -- If you want to go but do not have a boat state that in your RSVP then be watching the other RSVP postings and try to find yourself 'a river ride' on someone's raft.
