Hollis Town Band to Perform at Hollis Strawberry Festival on Monument Square. Sunday, June 24th, 2:00 p.m.
The Hollis Town Band highlights the start of its summer concert series during the Hollis 2012 Strawberry Festival, 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 24th. Come to Hollis' Monument Square, across from Hollis Town Hall, just south of the intersection of Routes 130 and 122 in Hollis, NH. Enjoy strawberry shortcakes with real whipped cream, ice cream strawberry sundaes, and delicious ice cream cones or cups, prepared and served by the Hollis Woman’s Club. There’s no admission charge to attend and hear the concert on the green, but bring plenty of cash to support this wonderful fundraiser while you enjoy delicious strawberry desserts with your family, friends, and neighbors.
Special solo artists include Actorsingers vocalist Noelle Bourquard, singing “God Bless America” and "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables. Ms. Bourquard will open the program with a rendition of New England composer and Hollis Town Band trombonist Ed Madden's "National Anthem." Instrumental soloists include Rick Bolling, on trumpet, performing the “Gabriel’s Theme” by Warren Barker, from the movie "The Mission"; and Rex Atwood, on tenor sax, with the sweet sounds of “Blue Moon.” Suellen Davidson, a frequent vocal soloist with Hollis Town Band, will perform "The Water is Wide," a traditional British folk song, also known as "O Waly Waly."
But wait--there's more! Other musical highlights include three marches by the late Maine composer Gordon W. Bowie, former Principal and Bass Trombonist of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra and Director of the Montgomery Village Community Band in Montgomery County, Maryland. In addition, visitors to this year's Hollis Strawberry Festival will hear Michael Flamhaft's "Rotary March," celebrating the Rotary Clubs of America; Ed Madden's "Goin' West," a medley of music from the early days of the American West; a medley of jazz standards, and hits made famous by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
In event of rain, the Strawberry Festival will move to the Hollis Brookline Middle School. For more information, call HTB Director David Bailey at 603.883-2448 or email: director@hollistownband.org .
