Description:
This one-day workshop empowers teachers to understand and use the visual, kinesthetic, and pictorial Hands-On Equations teaching methodology to successfully present essential algebraic concepts to students. By "breaking the code" of algebra, Hands-On Equations empowers students to work with sophisticated-looking algebraic concepts, thereby enhancing their self-esteem and interest in mathematics. Audience (3-12): Elementary, Middle School & High School Teachers, Paraprofessionals, Curriculum Coordinators, Special Education Teachers, Pre-Algebra Teachers, General Math Teachers, Principals, and other interested educators. Participants will receive a $50 gift certificate towards a classroom set of Hands-On Equations materials (expires 6 months from date of workshop). Presenter: Dr. Rima Binder from Long Beach, Indiana.
November 17, 2009 (registration deadline: October 28, 2009); 8:00AM-3:00PM (registration/doors open at 7:30AM);
Location: NWIESC, Highland; 3 CRUs or 8 PGPs will be provided.
