Georgette Heyer’s mystery is a wonderful example of a classic British country house mystery. Written in 1939, it features the superlatively analytical Inspector Hemingway who is confronted by a seemingly impossible murder, no one was near the murder weapon at the time the shot was fired! All the various participants on the scene are suspicious and then there’s the blackmail plot……..
