Event details: Walking Event: Ft. Stevens State Park
Description
Daily, dawn to dusk. YR 1972 is rated 1 but is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Historic Area gate is locked at 4 p.m. in the winter and 6 p.m. in the summer. Plan to start walk early enough to complete it by closing. Paved and natural state park trails through historic Fort Stevens State Park, which is now a part of the Lewis & Clark National Historic Park. A number of historic military bunkers and gun batteries along the route and beautiful views of the Columbia River and natural forested areas. You might want to browse through displays dating back to the Civil War at the military museum. Route passes a replica of a Clatsop Indian cedar longhouse.
