Turkey Day Hike

Please join me for this very scenic but as far as I've seen never scheduled hike in the Patapsco Valley State Park's Western section. The hike will traverse along a scenic river which provides some very nice views of the water and rock formations within the park. There are some rolling hills but nothing too challenging. I expect the hike to be about 8 miles at a moderate pace of about 2.0 - 2.5 mph. After the hike we can go to a local dinner for a post hike meal (at your own expense). Hiking boots are strongly recommended as the trail is typically muddy and there are a few stream crossings. Please bring water. Please arrive at the Park and Ride just north of RT 70 on Rt 32 (exit 80) in Ellicott City Maryland prior to 9:00 am, As I will leave promptly at 9:00 am. Please leave pets and children under 21 years of age at home. If you have any questions, please send me an Email prior to 12:01 pm on Nov 25, 2009. RSVP and No-show Policies: If you RSVP Maybe and there is a waiting list, you must update your RSVP at least 48 hours (2 days) prior to the hike to indicate if you are coming or not. If you do not, I will assume you are not coming and your RSVP will be deleted to make room for people from the waiting list. If you RSVP Yes or Maybe, and fail to come to the hike led by me you will be precluded from participating in future hikes I lead and I will delete any subsequent RSVPs you make for my hikes. If you have a legitimate reason why you could not attend and could not update your RSVP, please contact me and I will take this into consideration. This policy is intended to prevent people from being precluded from hikes when they can be accommodated, and applies only to hikes I lead. Furthermore, If I discover that you have RSVP'd Yes or Maybe for both this event and one in ANY other group, you will be deleted from the list and precluded from any of my future hikes. Cancellation Policy: I will cancel a hike in the event of extreme weather (e.g. thunderstorms actually occurring in the hike area) or hazardous trail conditions (such as ice on the trail). Whenever possible, I will send a cancellation notice prior to hike time. If this is not possible (or the hazard is not apparent until we are at the trail head), we will decide at the trail head, as a group, whether to hike or not.
