Opportunity Awaits: The African American Experience in Territorial Oklahoma

The friends of the Guthrie Museum Complex is excited to announce the opening of our first annual exterior exhibit series. Opportunity Awaits: The African-American Experience in Territorial Oklahoma will explore the settlement and influence of African-Americans in the era prior to statehood. After a year on display, the exhibit with be incorporated into our second floor gallery. This subject is an important part of our history that we believe is key to include in order to better serve our patrons and provide a complete view of the history of Oklahoma. This exhibit is made possible by a grant from the Oklahoma Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The exhibit will open February 14, 2009 and will be available on the exterior entrance of the building throughout the year.
