Dawn Avery & Steven Alvarez are the last of five performances in the North Dakota Museum of Art's Winter Concert Series. The Series, long rooted in traditional Western Classical Music, is devoting the upcoming season to the cross pollination between World Music and Classical Music.Rarely are performers as at home at Lincoln Center as they are in a sweat lodge. Mohawk composer, cellist, vocalist, educator and Grammy-nominated performer Dawn Avery is equally comfortable with either. She has sung and played with musical luminaries from Luciano Pavarotti to Sting, from R.C. Nakai to her teacher John Cage. She will perform her own compositions and works from the North American Indian Cello Project. Avery will be joined by percussionist Steven Alvarez who descends from the Mescalero Apache, Yaqui, and the Upper Tanana Athabasca. Currently, he performs regularly as a percussionist with the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra.
Tickets for the Concert Series are available by subscription to the Series, or available for single concerts at the door or in advance at the North Dakota Museum of Art.
Non-member tickets: $70 for the season, $15 per concert at the door
Member tickets: $60 for the season, $13 per concert at the door
Student and military tickets: $20 for the season, $5 per concert at the door
Children 12 and under: Free
