Imagine counting down to the New Year and releasing of all that holds us back with a primal scream at the stroke of midnight while inside the sacred womb of grandmother earth. This New YearÂÂ's Eve brings us a full moon, which is also a blue moon (the second full moon in a month) AND there will be a lunar eclipse! Eclipses are said to reveal hidden truths and lunar eclipses bring endings. So, as we work on our New YearÂÂ's resolutions this is the perfect time to release old habits and patterns and that which is stale or stuck in our lives. And what better way to accomplish this but through the powerful alchemy and purification of a sweat? Come on out to the Pasadena Sweat Lodge and ring in the New Year with Golden Lark (Julie Roberts) and Whitewater Dancer (Doug Oliver). There will be drum circles and Walk/Talk ceremonies taking place throughout the evening and a special guided meditation will align us with the energy and intent of releasing old stale energy to prepare us for the New Year followed by a purifying sweat lodge ceremony at the stroke of midnight. Please bring hand drums and hors dÂÂ'oeuvres/potluck dish to share as well as a large bottle of water to drink in the lodge. Please wear a swimsuit and bring a towel (or two towels if you wish to wrap one towel around you to wear in the lodge). See you there! Whitewater Dancer has been doing sweat lodge ceremonies at his location in Pasadena for over 20 years though the sweat lodge tradition itself is believed to be thousands of years old, a tradition from the mists of time. The sacred energy of the sweat lodge has been used in cultures around the globe to cleanse, purify, rejuvenate, rebirth and heal the physical, spiritual, mental and emotional bodies we inhabit. Every cultural group has its own traditions. Overall, there is no right or wrong way to engage in a sweat lodge ceremony, other than to enter the lodge with an open mind and be prepared for cleansing of negative emotions, healing of physical ailments, clearing of mental concerns and/or releasing of spiritual blockages. A major benefit of a sweat is the cleansing of undesirable toxins from the body. The temperature of the steam also stimulates the endocrine glands and facilitates the release of negative ions into the air, inducing relaxation and mental alertness simultaneously.
