Begin your journey to Cuba through this introduction to a series of courses on Cuba. Enjoy a presentation of photos by artists and a guided walk through gallery. Taste Cuban food and listen to the music of Cuba. Meet the instructors for all courses. Cost: $35.

1/28/2012 A Complex History: Cuban Music from the 1800's to 1940's

Using a variety of audio and visual tools, this class will explore the development of Cuban music through the complex history of Cuba from the 1800s through the 1940s. Cost: $30.

2/4/2012 Is Cuban music more than Salsa? 1950 - today

Continue our exploration of Cuban music, focusing on the period from the 1950s through today. Cost: $30.

2/11/2012 Culinary Adventure: Cuba

Join us for an evening in Havana as we team with Arturo Gomez in preparing a selection of down home dishes from Cuba. Learn to prepare true Cuban favorites such as Picadillo, Arroz con Pollo, Camarones Enchiladas, Carne con Papas, and more. Cost: $42.

The people of Cuba have a rich and varied background. We will discuss the differences among people who live in the rural and urban areas of Cuba. The visual arts will be explored considering color, expression, and a reflection of different times in Cuba's history. Cost: $30.

3/10/2012 Cuban Cinema
A short lecture on the history and highlights of Cuban cinema will include film clips, but the class will primarily consist of the complete viewing of a feature film in Spanish with English subtitles.

Cuba, and especially Cuban-US relations, has been a subject of interest for Cesar Munoz since he began teaching Spanish at CMC eleven years ago. He has been fortunate to travel to Cuba and encourages others to do so. He encourages students to educate themselves on the subject of Cuba. His library of films, music, and books is available to you at CMC in Dillon. Cost: $30.

3/24 & 25/2012 Salsa from a Rhythmic Perspective
1:00 PM -- 3:00 PM
This class will introduce students to the joy of Cuban-style dancing while guiding them through the multi-rhythmic structure of Cuban salsa music. This class meets on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25, 2012. Cost: $25.
