Description
Tonight's theme is Casablanca and our double feature will be the two classics: "Casablanca" and "A Night in Casablanca". $5 fee covers: movie rental, home made popcorn (with real butter), hot apple cider and a cool name badge. If the weather isn't too bad, we can fire up the fire pit and roast marshmellows and make s'mores. Trenchcoats are optional. 6 PM - Bar is open and popcorn is a'poppin 7 PM - Casablanca (1942) Black & white, 102 minutes. In this three Oscar-winning classic, American expatriate Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) runs a nightclub playing host to gamblers, thieves and refugees. Rick never expected Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) - the woman who broke his heart - to walk through his door. Isla hopes that with Rick's help, she and her fugitive husband (Paul Henreid) escape to America. But the spark that brought Rick and Ilsa together years ago still burns brightly. 9 PM - A Night in Casablanca (1946) Black & white, 85 minutes Groucho, Harpo and Chico Marx pull out all the stops in this hilarious satire of Humphrey Bogart's Casablanca. When the manager of the Casablanca Hotel is murdered, the third to be killed in a year, the Governor and Chief of Police decide to bring in an experienced man to replace him. Ronald Kornblow (Groucho Marx) is hired to become the hotel's new manager. Groucho soon discovers the reasons for the murders - that there is a hoard of Nazi loot hidden in the hotel. Enter Rusty (Harpo), the valet to Count Pfferman, a Nazi who is most intent on recovering the treasure. Rusty, along with Corbaccio (Chico), helps Kornblow uncover the cache and bring the Nazi to justice. This is a BYOB (Bring Your Own Beverages) event. Coolers and ice will be provided. No children or pets are allowed at this event. Directions: Follow Mapquest and look for a big fish mailbox that will be lit up for the event. Parking: If my driveway is full, go around the block. Please, do not let your car tires go on the grass. I have one cranky neighbor (Josophine) who lives on the corner. Questions: call Dave S. at 847-287-4111
