Arizona Online Solar Training Class #10: Solar Mechanical Integration This online solar training class will cover the following solar training topics: •Identify the key considerations for integrating arrays on buildings and other structures •Understand the key factors involved in choosing a mounting system •Differentiate between the various types of mounting configurations and their features •Differentiate between the various types of attachment methods •Compare the various types of structural loads on arrays and the factors that affect each type The first paragraph of Chapter 10: The mechanical design and integration of PV systems requires considering the characteristics of the components and the structure and how they will affect each other when integrated. Many factors in the mechanical design process result from information collected during site surveys, including the available structural support and accessibility. Various types of mounting systems and attachment methods are evaluated for their relative advantages and disadvantages and their structural strength. The objective is to produce an economical mechnical installation that is safe, secure, and appropriate for the site and application. The best feature is that students can study whenever their schedule permits versus having to take five days off from work. Arizona 15-Week Online Solar Training Class Description: The course is designed for students that have full-time jobs and cannot afford to take off work. The course is a 15-week course that requires students to read 15 chapters from a college level solar textbook, participate in weekly discussions like this one and take a weekly chapter test on Thursdays. At the end of 15 weeks, students take a final exam. Students that pass with average of 70% or better will receive a solar diploma.
