If you want to bring a camp chair that might be more comfortable then the picnic tables. Please bring a lunch that you do not have to cook. We will be at Shelter #3 Any questions please ask. This is a co-meet-up between the MD, Richmond, and Va Beach groups so you will also have a chance to network with new people! Plant Medicines In A Survival Situation By Charles ÂÂ"DocÂÂ" Garcia Most survival manuals give a short shrift to survival plant remedies as well they should since the manuals give either erroneous information or just enough to be useless. If you have a pot, some water, and way to make fire, you might be able to stave off infection, pneumonia, septicemia, and other ills if you know your local plants. Even the herbs in your kitchen or in your garden could save your life. So spend a day grubbing for plants if weather allows, taking notes, and learning how to use plants to keep you and your family alive. Some topics to be covered: Kitchen herbs for healing. Neighborhood plants for survival. Garden herbs for survival. Weeds that can save your butt. Quick and dirty medicine making the joys of teas, decoctions, and poultices. What you can learn from Native American lore. Honey and charcoal unlikely healers. Vodka not just for orange juice. DonÂÂ't kill that spider! You might need the web. And anything else I can think of before the sun goes down. My bonafides: Former American Red Cross volunteer and instructor. Ten years in public and private law enforcement. Creator of earthquake emergency protocols for the Irwin Memorial Blood Bank, San Francisco. Third generation herbalist. Director of the California School of Traditional Hispanic Herbalism. Damn good cook. Any questions please ask.
