Description
Everyone was transported back to 1985 last Saturday, and watched Ali and Sue Osman, as well as the Walford neighborhood, coping with the SIDS death of their infant son, Hassan. It was funny to see how much more "crummy" the neighborhood was, and how "yuppiehood" was infecting Walford in those days! Many people are going on vacations next month, so we'll probably save the picnic idea for a different time. So we've decided to have a pizza party instead of potluck on July 18th! For those who will join us for pizza and beer, we'll have it delivered to the British and Dominion Club so no need to pre-pay. ************************************************************************************ Please go to the Message Board to see what people are bringing to the potluck, and to post your own item. It will help a lot in coordinating the meal! Ta!!! 22 EE fans attended the April 18th meeting. Several members of the LA club visited, and some of our members attended their meeting at the Robin Hood pub in Sherman Oaks. In our classic episode Mandy and Aidan were living in a squat, and Mandy was getting money by cheating potential "Johns" out of their money by running away with the cash. Pat warned her that the Old Bill would soon be locking her in the slammer if she didn't change her ways. By the end of the episode, that's exactly what had happened! Mrs. Hewitt is none too understanding about Arthur choosing his family over her, and Michelle Fowler, B.A., tells Arthur that he "disgusts" her. We did a video I.D. game for our quiz, which made many people scratch their heads and think, "Blimey, I know I KNOW that character, but..." Thanks for all the delicious potluck, once again! ***************************************************************************** 25 EE fans watched with delight as Pauline whacked Arthur in the head with a frying pan last night after she found out he'd been "doing the dirty" with Christine Hewitt! Along with good potluck dishes (lovely lemon bars, Ginger; loved the roasted veg, David) and a lot of chatting, joking and drinking, a good time was had by all. We actually had our first kids at the club. Congrats on your lucky winning raffles tickets, kids! We also had 5 new members show up! Welcome! John provided a fun EE quiz (thanks for the groovy Walford map, John), and we had many prize winners between the quiz and raffle. Linda brought the Queen of Prizes in a talking birthday card from Kat. What a tart (Kat, not Linda :) ! We also learned that "Janine" can be substituted in any blank correctly, as in "__________ (any man in Walford) has slept with _____ (Janine)". We'll remember that for future quizzes! Michelle, President of the Santa Monica EE Club, came for a visit, and proposed occasionally combining clubs. So we've been formally invited to join them in April, for whoever would like to go to THEIR local for an EE fun time. We will have our usual meeting at the British and Dominion as well. Details will follow in a later e-mail. Our EE t-shirt wearing members came prepared for a group photo which you can view in the Photos section of this site. A grand time was had by all, and we look forward to seeing you again on April 18th! Cheers! ********************************************************************** Welcome to the EastEnders Club at the British and Dominion Social Club in Garden Grove. We are directly north of the 22 and 405 freeways at Valley View. The British & Dominion is a private, not-for-profit social club for British ex-pats. There is a full bar with very inexpensive drink prices, as well as simple pub food. As it is a private club, you may feel free to bring food (not drinks, though!) in with you. We offer a HUGE EastEnders DVD lending library to share among members, only. You may check out discs at each meeting, and there is no charge when you return them the following meeting. And, yes, we do have all the KOCE "Missing Episodes", as well as the entire first 2 years of EE, plus more treats! Our agenda will be: 6:00-6:30 - Arrival time. Grab a pint and chat with other EE fans in a comfortable, unnoisy, friendly, family-style British pub environment at the BD Social Club. Our mates bring in some tasty potluck dishes, and we nosh and jawbone till the show begins! 6:30-7:00 - A classic episode of EE will be shown on huge big screen TV while we throw a few back. 7:00-7:30 - Games, prizes, raffle and club activities happen. 7:30-? - Stick around the cozy pub for a few more with your mates! GO TO "PHOTOS" SECTION FOR A MAP OF THE LOCATION. WHEN YOU TURN EAST OFF OF VALLEY VIEW ONTO TIFFANY STREET (INTO THE BRIDGECREEK COMMERCIAL CENTER), TURN RIGHT ONCE IN THE PARKING LOT AND GO TO THE REAR OF THE LOT TO FIND THE PUB.
