Description:
The guided tour of the Moody Mansion includes a history of the Moody family in the context of late 19th and 20th century Galveston and Texas.The furnishings are all original to the family and to the house. Each room on the main floor is decorated in a different style. The house was meticulously restored in the late 1980s and first opened to the public in 1991. The tour lasts about one hour. Pre-arranged group tours for both adults and young people are welcome.The Mansion's current exhibit is "Auto Fever," housed in a new garage facility a few steps from Moody Mansion’s back door. Centerpieces of the exhibit are three restored automobiles that belonged to members of the Moody family, surrounded by exhibits on the impact of the automobile on the Moody Family, Galveston, Texas and the United States. This separate exhibit facility is included in the price of admission to Moody Mansion.
