Joffrey Ballet

For more than a half-century, The Joffrey Ballet has been “America’s Company of Firsts.” The long list of “firsts” includes being the first dance company to perform at the White House at Jacqueline Kennedy’s invitation; the first to appear on television; the first American company to visit Russia; the first and only dance company to appear on the cover of Time magazine; and the first company to serve as the inspiration and basis of major motion picture, Robert Altman’s The Company. Joffrey Ballet is committed to delivering world-class, artistically vibrant work to audiences, including pieces presented in this program: Pretty, After the Rain and Night. Today, the Joffrey Ballet resides in Chicago, where the company prepares its repertoire of major story ballets, reconstructions of masterpieces and contemporary works.
