 Advanced Training for Legal Interpreters and Translators

by Holly MikkelsonCome enhance your legal interpreting and translation skills in this hands-on one day workshop conducted by this world-renowned trainer and consultant. This interactive, information-packed worshop will cover the following topics: Characteristics of Legal Language, Comparative Law (with emphasis in Common Law as compared to Civil Law), and how to translate Court Documents and Legislation from the US and Spanish-speaking countries.

 

About the Trainer: 

Holly Mikkelson is Adjunct Professor of Translation and Interpretation at the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation, Monterey Institute of International Studies, a Graduate School of Middlebury College.She is an ATA-certified translator (Spanish>English, English>Spanish) and a state and federally certified court interpreter who has taught translation and interpreting for over 35 years. She is the author of Introduction to Court Interpreting as well as the Acebo interpreter training manuals and numerous articles on translation and interpretation. She is also a coauthor of Fundamentals of Court Interpretation: Theory, Policy and Practice. Professor Mikkelson has consulted with many state and private entities on interpreter testing and training, and has presented lectures and workshops to interpreters and related professionals throughout the world.

Cancellation Policy: GlobalTradu LLC reserves the right to cancel any event due to lack of enrollment or other factors. In the event of a cancellation, registered participants will be notified by e-mail and will receive a complete refund. If a participant chooses to cancel their confirmed registration, or cannot or does not attend the workshop, the following refund criteria will apply:

  • Cancellations must be sent in writing to info@globaltradu.com
  • Cancellations received 15 or more days from the scheduled event date will be offered a 50% refund
  • Cancellations received 14 or less days from the scheduled event date will not be offered a refund
