Description
Mahler's First Symphony shocked nineteenth century audiences with its sheer fruitcake-like density (and they thought Mahler himself was something of a fruitcake, too), but now the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink character of the work is appreciated and even loved. The young players who will be massed onstage at the Saroyan Theatre on December 6 are members of the Youth Philharmonic, the most advanced of the Youth Orchestras of Fresno, and members the Symphony Orchestra of CSU Fresno, all under the director of Youth Orchestra Music Director and CSUF professor Thomas Loewenheim.

This beautiful theatre is the 'showcase' of the Center. With 2,353 luxuriously upholstered seats and superb acoustics, this performing arts theatre provides an ideal environment for broadway shows, plays, ballets, concerts and convention meetings.The Saroyan Theatre is home to the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra and the Fresno Ballet. The theatre's high technical quality adds to the enjoyment of every performance. The theatre's spectacular lobby is appointed with solid cast brass doors, glistening chandeliers, and hardwood accents. It makes a perfectly elegant setting for receptions, social gatherings, and convention registration functions.
