DIVORCED WOMEN WANTED FOR RESEARCH PROJECT: A doctoral candidate is conducting a study for her dissertation and needs women who are divorced (not separated, but could be remarried) to complete an online questionnaire that takes less than 30 min. Your assistance will add to available research on divorce to help others understand the journey. Divorce can be an extremely stressful life experience. Other than death of a spouse, divorce has been recognized as the most significant life stressor that a person can face. Although it causes such intense distress, divorce is disturbingly a prevailing phenomenon. In the second half of the 20th century, divorce for the first time surpassed death as the reason why marriages ended. When divorce materializes, it is often associated with emotional trauma, reduced resources, damaged self-esteem, and feelings of failure. Because it simultaneously impacts individual, couple, and family issues, the divorce adjustment process is complex. Even though research has been conducted to study divorce adjustment, there is still a shortage of scholarly research available for professionals to more fully understand its complexities as they develop programs and interventions to help those wounded by it. Therefore, as a part of her Ph.D. research dissertation, Lisa, chose to study divorce adjustment in women, to help others better understand the journey.
