holiday caroling

hey everyone: this past year i had so much difficulty getting into the holiday spirit. between avoiding malls as a rule of life, not having family nor many young children as friends in sfla, and the sublime weather here, it just wasn't happening. and then i remembered how much fun i used to have caroling. and since we are the music lovers group, i thought it was a good mix to post my ideas here (i will no doubt involve some other meetup groups, but it starts here). so here's my idea, and i need your help. i've selected 3 dates (dec 11, a thurs; dec 16, a wed; and dec 21, a mon) and i think 6:30-7pm is a good time to meet at a fairly central local pub/bar for a little dutch courage/vocal chord lubricant; at 7:30-8 pm we head out to a great neighborhood (victoria park springs to mind--definitely open to suggestions) and sing our hearts out for an hour or so, while holding out our hat for a local charity (Kids in Distress comes to mind--again, give me your ideas). and then back to the pub to commiserate, i mean reminisce and rehash our accomplishments chorale!! i also need suggestions for holiday songs that celebrate kwanzaa and hanukkah. i'm not sure it's necessary to get together and practice. tambourines, maraccas, bells etc. very welcome. i'll print out song sheets, etc. nothing is written in stone--alternative dates/times/locales, whatever. bring it on everyone! what could be better than raising our voices in harmonius unison to celebrate the holidays and our diversity, while getting to know each other over fun and a cocktail and raising money for a good cause at the same time (and we'll get a little exercise too)!!??
