A1A Marathon at Greater Ft. Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center
Races: Marathon, Half Marathon
After dealing with the hardships that followed the aftermath of hurricane Wilma, the City of Fort Lauderdale and the A1A Marathon have moved to reschedule the inaugural run in order to alleviate some of the pressures that have beset the region. After consulting over 40 partners, city and state officials, and others involved with the A1A Marathon, Exclusive Sports Marketing has selected February 19th at 6:30 AM as the new starting time for this historic road race to take place.
"Initially we were extremely disheartened when we made the decision to postpone the race, but we feel that the running community will be able to really get behind this event in February, said Steve Tebon, Exclusive Sports Marketing's President. "While February is a high point in the tourism season, we feel that there is still plenty of room to accommodate all the athletes coming down to participate in this world class event."
For those athletes representing the 36 different states or seven different countries planning on participating in the A1A Marathon, Fort Lauderdale will be fully restored and show them the beauty local residents see on a daily basis. February 19th will fall on President's Day Weekend and after looking at the weather patterns for Fort Lauderdale it seems ideal. The temperatures will be cool with an average of 67 degrees.
With much of Broward County still waiting to receive power at their homes and business, police officials have been working around the clock making sure conditions remain safe. The Staff of Exclusive Sports Marketing would like to take the time to thank them for all their hard work and dedication to the community. Without their help and support the time spent rebuilding after hurricane Wilma would not be possible. As such an important part of this rebuilding process, we recognize the police force as an equally important member of our marathon team and without them we would not be able to hold a safe event. We know that you share in our mindset when we send them our greatest thanks.
