Description

Learning from the experiences of women of color activist students at CSU

On Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 1:30-3 p.m. in room 210 of the Lory Student Center, the Women's Interdisciplinary Studies Program will present Chris Linder, Women's Programs and Studies, who will speak on Learning from the Experiences of Women of Color Activist Students at CSU.

Students of color are under-represented at CSU and experience subtle and overt racism on our campus.  This constructivist narrative inquiry grounded in intersectionality, student identity development, and critical race theories explores the experiences of women of color activist students at CSU.

Creating a safer and more welcoming environment

Participants share their definitions of feminism and social justice; their experiences with unsafe spaces, fit and in-group dissonance; and specific examples of safe spaces and allies.  Results of the study also provide strategies for creating a safer and more welcoming environment in and out of the classroom for women of color students.

For further information, contact the Office of Women's Programs and Studies, 491-6384.
