Crizzly
Crizzly is crunk. Straight up. Remember the mid-2000's, when everyone on MTV had platinum grills and was rollin' on 22's, sippin' syzzurp from diamond-encrusted pimp cups? Add about a thousand screaming decibels of bass blasts and some Dirty South swag and you've got Chris Lee Marshall. Hailing from the tiny hamlet of Boerne, just a half hour up the road from San Antonio, TX, the little Crizzly cub was slammed from all sides by the media: cartoons, commercials, video games, Top 40 radio, and the internet. Raised on Space Jam and nurtured by Need for Speed and Adult Swim, it's no wonder Marshall is the absolute product of the Internet age. Influenced by the Gorillaz and Lil' Jon-era crunk, Crizzly set about turning the ho-hum club scene in San Antonio into a viable hotspot and home base for him and his crew. First experimenting with the upbeat frenzy of Euro-style electro, Marshall quickly found his sound in the bombastic, bass-laden dubstep scene. As his weekly events in The Alamo City were taking off, so were his viral remixes of Waka Flocka Flame's "Hard in da Paint" and Willow Smith's poetic epic "Whip My Hair," which propelled young Marshall to Internet fandom. Now, only 20, the Crizzly brand is blasting into hyper drive. Producers nationwide and beyond are dropping his tracks left and right, including Diplo, Bassnectar, Flying Lotus, DJ Benzi, and even Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy fame. Promoters are scrambling to get Crizzly on their bills following major performances at Electric Daisy Carnival in Dallas and Las Vegas, as well as the inaugural Escape from Wonderland Halloween bash. He'll be kicking off 2012 at Lights All Night in Dallas with some of the biggest DJs and producers in the world like Tiƫsto, Girl Talk, Benny Benassi, Wolfgang Gartner, Flux Pavilion, and more, and will be spreading his signature crunkstep sound to both coasts and everywhere in between in the coming years. Poised on the cusp of superstar status, fans everywhere can't wait for their next Crizzly attack. Crunk is back.
