Is America in decline? Many scholars and strategists point to economic, structural, political and even military vulnerabilities and contend that the United States is in serious decline. Others maintain that despite occasional political, economic and social challenges, America has been remarkably steady as the world's superpower. This class will focus on these opposing schools of thought to determine if the U.S.
is in a state of decline or whether it is going through a difficult period from which it will recover.
