Off ramps for soil & groundwater investigation and remediation

Getting on the road to a site investigation or remediation is easy.  A willing party, a signed purchase order, and a couple of contractors will get you moving down the road.

The real problem is finding an off ramp.  Getting off the site investigation or remediation road requires skill, strategy, and the ability to defend your solution.

Over the last 25 years, we have helped our clients get off the costly road of investigation and remediation.  It isn’t always easy, but in the end, it is well worth it.

You are invited to join us on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, in a very informal setting where we will present “off ramp” case studies.   

• The TCE investigation/remediation on ramp is far too common.  We will discuss a couple of off ramp case studies, one used an exposure pathway analysis and the other involved understanding groundwater flow.  These off ramps literally saved our client millions of dollars in investigation and remediation costs.

• Investigating vapor intrusion (VI) can be a Pandora’s Box.  The VI pathway can become the driving factor in extending the site closure process and, when not handled properly, can lead to unnecessary monitoring and remediation obligations.  We’ll explain how a logical, stepwise VI investigation methodology can eliminate the VI concern.  If you were led onto the vapor intrusion road, we have an approach to find an off ramp.

• A soil and groundwater investigation under Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) can quickly get costly and administratively burdensome.  In this case study, we explain how we found an early off ramp to avoid a million dollar investigation.

• Often, regulatory approval is required to use an off ramp.  We’ll share with you how we convinced regulators that not only was our suggested off ramp the best solution for our client, but also the most protective of the environment.
