Description
Documentary photography has been historically important in exposing social injustice, poverty, war and other forms of suffering. This exhibition features 55 black and white photos by Abdi Roble, a self-taught Somali photographer from Mogadishu, currently of Columbus, Ohio. Alongside Roble’s work are items from the Museum’s education collection of Somali artifacts, including prayer mats, musical instruments and baskets. The photographic portion of the exhibition is organized by the Columbus Museum of Art. Roble will visit Fargo in conjunction with the exhibition—a photography workshop with local children, including Somalis, will be scheduled.
