Programmable, Melodic Christmas Lights

Want to impress your family and friends over the Holidays? The following event I've been developing for awhile, and decided that it would be a great hands-on workshop activity around the Holiday season. In this workshop, we will program microcontroller (Pic, Arduino, Robostix, or Axon) to pulse, and attenuate strands of Christmas lights to the music of Jingle Bells, Silent Night and other popular Christmas tunes played on a laptop or from a stereo. The cost of this workshop will range between $50-$75.00 for a MCU with audio capability and several strands of Christmas lights. We may also integrate bluetooth into the MCU so that the MCU can learn new tunes that are played in real-time. We will investigate ways to use Artificial Intelligence to get the lights to learn tunes from christmas music and compose new tunes based on music it just heard. We may also try to figure out how to pulse lights to music, we can program that permanently into the MCU. Individuals that develop an interesting idea based on this workshop may or may not lead to commercial based products or patents. More information on this event will be available.
