NEW YEARS EVE WALK in WEST SEATTLE 10K, 5K

COME JOIN US early NEW YEARS EVE! Bid adieu to 2009 with a scenic walk on New Year's Eve along Alki Beach in West Seattle. You'll enjoy holiday lights and decorations in residential and business neighborhoods, along with great nighttime views of Bainbridge Island, downtown Seattle and Magnolia across Puget Sound and Elliott Bay. There are both 5K (3.1 mile) and 10K (6.2 mile) routes available and the walks can be started anytime between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. We will group start the 10K route at 4:30 p.m. The 5km walk does not go down to Alki, but does go to a great viewpoint of Seattle and Elliott Bay. Flashlights are recommended. All walkers must be finished by 10 PM. A light supper is available at the church. This walk is part of a 2-day event. Join us for a separate event and route on New Year's Day. If you are new to volkssport walks please note that all walkers must register at the registration table. Let them know you are a 'free walker'. Walkers that stamp their volkssport books pay $3.00 per walk. The walk will be well marked and you will receive route directions. Start Location: St John the Baptist Episcopal Church Start Point / Driving Directions: 3050 California Avenue SW Seattle, WA. I-5 N'bound: exit 163; I-5 S'bound: exit 163A. Cross the West Seattle Bridge and take Admiral Way exit. Follow Admiral up hill and into business district and California Ave. SW (light). Turn LEFT onto California and continue 3/10 mile to West Seattle HS parking lot on your left. The school parking lot is adjacent to St. John's Church, the start/finish point.
