“Western Edge” New Paintings by Bob Ó Cathail

Paintings expressed in vivid colour an inner view of life on the western edge of the Dingle Peninsula. For ó’Cathail, art is the hunt for meaning expressed in paint. The hunting ground is the consciousness, both inner, as memory and imagination and outer as environment. The meaning of life is joy. Ó’Cathail hunts inner prey, not to kill it but to acknowledge its significance and release it. This is creativity. Ó’Cathail loves ordinary things, which through the act of painting, take on extraordinary meaning.

Bob ó’Cathail is based in "Solamar", Ventry Co. Kerry, where he has his studio and does most of his work. He has exhibited widely across the country. This show will feature new work not yet showcased. He has illustrated many books and book covers and his work is in state collections.
