For 20issue the Dod Diary served Llandrindod, every month, without fail. It gave insight into events and printed articles free of charge. It got delivered to houses, was available at public service points and became a hub for businesses to promote themselves in the Llandrindod area...
However September 2011 turned out to be the last edition of this wonderful, FREE, community asset. The reason behind the withdrawal was the man who had ploughed all this effort into creating Dod Diary became disillusioned at just how few of the local groups, organisations and individuals who were putting on events actually took the time to promote themselves, FREE, in the diary. It merely took one email sent to Andi, and magically your event would appear everywhere, on Facebook, on blogs, on Twitter and of course in the Dod Diary, some local papers even used the diary to get their own event news, which would then be printed in the counties papers...yet for some reason so few actually contacted Andi with their events, and thus the man himself, giving all this time and energy into the community, to make it a better place, understandability decided to stop printing OUR events calendar.
But, there is a chink of light, Andi has said if the community prove to him they can pull together, then the Dod Diary will return in all its FREE glory.
Sign the petition, join us on Facebook, take the mantel and one of the best things to come out of this town in quite some while will return...
Do we want a negative town, where people always say “nothing ever happens”? A place full of clandestine groups putting on events that nobody other than a select few ever know about? Or do we want a town buzzing with life where EVERYBODY knows what events and activities are happening, when and where...without the Dod Diary and the effort of people like Andi, Llandod will never change, and the town NEEDS to change or it will not progress, we've got a reputation for being drab, dreary and boring...and all those people in organisations who haven't used Dod Diary need to ask themselves “why didn't we ?...” the upsurge of support since the news the diary is being retired by the people that read it just goes to prove how important it is to our community, “use it or lose it...” join me as i look to unite the town to bring back something we can't afford to use.
