Porcupine Tree is unquestionably one of the most difficult-to-categorize and innovative bands working today. The music is breathtaking, ranging from psychedelic trip-hop to progressive metal, and a compendium of other sounds and genres in between. The band was founded by Steven Wilson, initially as a solo project. The first major release was ‘On the Sunday of Life...’ in 1992, an album of psychedelia and studio experiments which bears little relation to the band's current sound. Die TonHalle München wurde Anfang 2004 nach fünf monatiger Umbauphase als Veranstaltungshalle auf dem Gelände der Kultfabrik München fertiggestellt. Es handelt sich um eine ehemalige Industriehalle, die sich hinter dem Münchner Ostbahnhof in zentraler Lage befindet. Die Parkplatzsituation und die Anbindung an das öffentliche Verkehrssystem sind hervorragend.Die TonHalle stellt eine multifunktionale Nutzfläche zur Umsetzung verschiedenster Veranstaltungskonzepte dar.
Es wurde großer Wert darauf gelegt, einen möglichst funktionalen und neutralen Ort zu schaffen, d. h. sämtliche Einbauten sind mobil und variabel zu gestalten (Theken, Bühne, etc.), und der Kunde unterliegt keinen Bindungen an exklusive Partner.
Die Dachkonstruktion wurde mit einem durchgehenden Hängepunktraster ausgestattet, um umfangreiche Technik- und Dekorationskonzepte durchführen zu können. Die Ausstattung und verwendeten Materialien sind durchweg hochwertig.
