Tickets €7 / €5 conc. / €12 family - pay on the door Goitse will kick off the new 2011 programme at the Cathedral on Sunday January 16th at 12 noon. Traditional melodies, modern rhythms and new compositions are synthesized by Goitse, a five piece band all of whom are students of Traditional Music and Dance at the University of Limerick. The band which is now entering its third year was formed after Eoin Coughlan asked musicians to play for Telethon at Dolans, Limerick. The session produced exciting playing and an instant chemistry between the musicians and on that night the band was formed. WEXFORD SINFONIA ORCHESTRA Saturday 5th February at 8pm Tickets €16/€12 conc. from 051 858 958 Made up of professional, semi-professional and amateur musicians from Ireland's southeast, Wexford Sinfonia makes a valuable contribution to the musical life of the region and presents regular concerts under its conductor Fergus Sheil. Fergus began orchestral conducting in 1989 and has since appeared in concert with the NSO of Ireland, RTE Concert Orchestra, The Ulster Orchestra, the Northern Sinfonia (UK), the Irish Chamber Orchestra and many other groups. The soloist, Finghin Colins has enjoyed a flourishing career that embraces Ireland, Europe, the US and Asia. He is Associate Artist with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra and Artistic Director of the New Ross Piano Festival. DE LA SALLE SENIOR CHOIR AND WIT YOUTH CHOIR 6th Feb:Tickets €7 / €5 conc. / €12 family - pay on the door De La Salle Senior Choir was founded in 2000. The choir is a male voice choir using only the deeper voices of the tenors and basses. The choir has built up a fine reputation singing regularly in concerts and competitions and won 1st place at the 2010 Limerick Church Music Festival. MICHAEL O TOOLE - CLASSICAL GUITAR Saturday 19th February at 8pm Tickets €16/ €12 conc. from 051 858 958 Michael O’Toole is one of the leading guitarists in Ireland today. He has performed all over the world to great acclaim and has worked with many other world-class musicians and ensembles. Recently, Michael has appeared as a soloist with the RTE Concert Orchestra for a live broadcast on RTE Radio and has also performed in Gloucester with the renowned Carducci String Quartet.
