The water off the western coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula is home to the Leafy Sea Dragon, a species of sea horse. The biennial Leafy Sea Dragon Festival is held in the Yankalilla district and celebrates this beautiful little sea creature.
The festival features an artist’s studio trail, various exhibitions, music, local food and wine, a street party and markets. Visit events in Myponga, Yankalilla, Normanville, Carrickalinga, Second Valley, Delamere, Rapid Bay and Cape Jervis. Many are free of charge, those that aren’t have tickets for sale at the door.
From Adelaide, travelling time is about 90 minutes and makes for a lovely day out. Spend a bit longer exploring the Fleurieu Peninsula, stay for a night or two.
2013 dates are yet to be announced. Further information will be available on the Leafy Sea Dragon Festival website closer to the event. Contact event staff for all prices.
