Description
January 22-24 In the shadow of glacier clad Mt. Victoria witness teams of professional carvers as they compete in the prestigious International Ice Carving Competition held each year at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Sanctioned by the National Ice Carving Association, twelve international teams of two carvers work within the theme "Podium Bound - Spirit of the Competition". Teams are given 15 blocks of ice, weighing 300lb each, which they must transform into seven-foot tall world class ice sculptures in three days. Teams will also compete in a speed event, One Carver One Hour One Block. Chainsaws will fly as carverâs race against the clock to carve one block of ice in one hour. Youâre also invited to join the Little Chippers Festival. Children will have a chance to learn the art and science of ice carving first hand!
