Film Screening and Bug Hunt Hong Kong Launch!

This movie screening night will not only reveal the wonderful world of insects to you, but it is the launch of the citizen science project "Bug Hunt Hong Kong". This project engages citizens in the study of the insect biodiversity of Hong Kong. You can help us to build a collection of Hong Kong insects as well as a DNA barcode database for the insects in the collection. As a DIYBIO group, we really want to share our passion for biology with you as well as do everything we can to protect our precious biodiversity.  【Time and Hours】 5 July (Thursday) 19:00 - 21:00 【Programme】 18:45 Registration start 19:00 Movie screening 20:15 Panel discussion 20:30 DIY Mead (Honey wine) tasting and mingle time 【About the movie】 This film tells the story of photographer Robert Oelman who leaves his psychology career in the early 1990s to pursue photography. He moves from the United States to Colombia and purchases a small farm in the hills. On his journeys through the rain forests of the Amazon Basin he begins to take striking photographic images of undiscovered insects. After more than twenty years of traveling, searching and photographing, his quest culminates with a New York City gallery show. He also learns that these tiny life forms must continue to survive. They are at the bottom of the mammalian food chain and are critically important to all animal species including mankind. You can watch the trailer on the movie's website: 【Ticket】 Each ticket is 100 HKD (include eventbrite service charge). Please refer to the Eventbrite event page to get the ticket.
