innovation at IBM, will talk with CNET News.com's Stephen Shankland
(aka Harpo Geiger) at the CNET Second Life bureau on Tue., Dec. 12 at 10:30 am. Wladawsky-Berger, in charge of Big Blue's response to new
technologies, has over the years dealt with e-commerce, Linux and
open-source software, and on-demand computing. He also leads the
company's university relations office. Wladawsky-Berger sees Second Life
as an example of the Web 2.0 movement, that's reshaping the
Internet--"capabilities that enable people to find each other, form
communities, share information, and collaborate on a variety of
endeavors." Wladawsky-Berger, a Cuban and a baseball fan, has a Second
Life avatar that wears either a business suit or the shirt of New York
Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez. Audience members will have a chance to ask
Wladawsky-Berger questions.
