Description
Irving Wladawsky-Berger, vice president of technical strategy and
innovation at IBM, will talk with CNET News.com's Stephen Shankland
(aka Harpo Geiger) at the CNET Second Life bureau on Tue., Dec. 12 at 10:30 am. Wladawsky-Berger, in charge of Big Blue's response to new
technologies, has over the years dealt with e-commerce, Linux and
open-source software, and on-demand computing. He also leads the
company's university relations office. Wladawsky-Berger sees Second Life
as an example of the Web 2.0 movement, that's reshaping the
Internet--"capabilities that enable people to find each other, form
communities, share information, and collaborate on a variety of
endeavors." Wladawsky-Berger, a Cuban and a baseball fan, has a Second
Life avatar that wears either a business suit or the shirt of New York
Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez. Audience members will have a chance to ask
Wladawsky-Berger questions.
