Montgomery's Inn
Montgomery's Inn, a historical house built in the late 1830s by farmer, inn-keeper and Irish immigrant, Thomas Montgomery, has witnessed everything from the political turmoil of the Rebellion of 1837 to the growth of a city and the birth of a nation. It is one of the earliest buildings in Etobicoke and, after being saved from demolition in 1962, has remained in fine condition since its restoration in 1967.The Inn serves as Etobicoke's historical museum, displaying artifacts of the 19th century, mainly between 1847 and 1850 when the inn was at its peak. Costumed interpreters run guided tours of the inn and try to recreate the warmth and hospitality that would have been offered to patrons during its day.The inn is now operated by the City of Toronto Culture Division. Stop by the Tea Room for afternoon tea from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. or celebrate Victoria Day at the inn's annual historical bash. The inn also provides two rooms that can be rented out for special occasions and meetings: the Community Room which seats 70 people, and the Meeting Room which seats 35 to 50 people. The inn offers free on-site parking, a gift shop and outdoor picnic facilities for an afternoon snack.
