Advanced Map Reading Skills at Dunster National Park Centre

You will need to be happy with basic map reading and interprateing the symbols, signs and contour lines and takeing a 6 figure reference.

This course will cover using a compas taking bearings magnetic variation and resection (working out your position from land marks) We will also cover route planning, pacings and timings when walking.

This can be of use both in day to day activities around the national park finding meeting points and just going for a afternoon walk. It is also usefull for any one reporting problems with the rights of way network, or undertaking wildlife surveys.

The day will be part classroom based and part walking based so bring outdoor kit.
