'A Worthy Cause'/'Habitat for Humanity' Home Restoration Project

'A Worthy Cause' is an emerging, statewide community service group. In response to President Obama's call for national service, we are dedicated to improving communities and the lives of those in need. [www.worthycause-nj.org] On Saturday, July 11th, we will have the opportunity to work as a group to restore the EXTERIOR of a home in Neptune, NJ. This home restoration is the latest in a series of projects under CHFH's program, entitled 'A Brush with Kindness.' Under this program, CHFH identifies a homeowner who is of low income, aged, and/or disabled, and then has a team of volunteers used donated paint, landscaping, and repair supplies to gift the exterior [only] of the home a 'facelift.' The project is a ONE DAY event, and Coastal Habitat for Humanity is currently the only HFH in NJ running this 'Brush with Kindness' program. You do NOT need to be 'skilled' in order to participate..u just need to be willing to get a lil dirty and/or tired for ONE day. But as Pamela [the Director of CHFH] tells me, the feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day, will make you want to come back and do another house next year! Needless to say, this type of project is a very 'worthy cause,' as it helps out one person in need, while also improving the curb appeal of the entire neighborhood. We already have about [10] volunteers committed to this project, but are looking to end with about 15-20, so please RSVP, and as soon as poss! And btw....because donations/funds are so down for CHFH this year, Pamela asked me to ask everyone who participates to bring a paint brush or gloves or something, to help defray the costs of the project. if you wish, u can take the brush or other item back home with you at the end of the day. :) And questions, please let me know, asap!
