Description
Known for their literally non-stop kinetic live shows, which utilize a variety of more traditional musical instruments like the accordion, the Moog keyboard and the xylophone, as well as incorporating often overlooked noisemakers like soup pots, shoes, a fire extinguisher and squeaky toys, Man Man have floored crowds around the world on tour with indie darlings such as Cat Power, Arcade Fire and Modest Mouse. The exuberantly schizophrenic Man Man move, sometimes seamlessly and sometimes in intentional fits and starts, between genres and sounds on their recordings as freely as they change instruments during their live shows. Spin opines "often sinister, occasionally busting out some doo-wop, and on one track accompanied by a chorus of kindergartners, Man Man is a refreshing breath amid today's polluted airwaves," and Prefix magazine states "Man Man's music will irritate you, make you laugh, put you off and then bring you back for more. It is in this conflict that the band exists and succeeds so well."

Man Man
Man Man is an American experimental rock band from Philadelphia. Their style has been compared to a mixture of Tom Waits, Frank Zappa, and Captain Beefheart. Man Man is known for their distinctive live shows where the members of the band dress in white tennis outfits and don war paint. During their sets the band does not take breaks between songs in order to keep a constant energy level. Prior to settling on Man Man, the band was named Gamelon and briefly Magic Blood.

Brooklyn-based Tim Fite created one of the most talked-about albums of 2007 by taking a novel approach to releasing a concept set about hip-hop and the consumer culture -- giving it away for free. Tim Fite was raised in a rural community along the border of Pennsylvania and New Jersey by parents who raised him with a sense of frugality and social purpose. Fite developed an interest in music, and began creating tunes that mixed samples of found music with his own organic instrumental accompaniment and lively sense of humor; Fite also points out that every tune he samples comes from an album he found in a bargain bin, which not only saves mo...
