Description
Eureka residents Louisa Rogers and Barry Evans fell in love with the colonial city of Guanajuato, a town at 7000 ft. in the Sierra Madre, when they first visited in 1999. Seven years later they bought a 150-year old adobe house on a quiet pedestrian “calzado” alley close to “el centro.”
But there was work to do! With the help of two architects and a slew of workers, in three years they added a studio on the roof, removed another roof to create an indoor patio, created a new kitchen and bathroom, and much more.
Louisa and Barry will share the highs and lows of their project in words and pictures. If you’ve ever had the dream to live abroad, or to own a second home outside the U.S., come to be informed and inspired.
The library is located at 1313 Third St., in Eureka. Admission is free. For further information, phone 707-269-1905 or visit the library Web site at www.humlib.org.
