Women's Winter Backcountry Essentials Clinic at REI

Learn how to prepare for all kinds of snowy fun, particularly how to stay safe, warm, and alive in a backcountry winter environment. This clinic will cover basic backcountry travel and camping skills including an introduction to avalanche awareness, what to bring, what to do if you have to spend an unexpected night out, and a few women-specific special tips. Taught by staff of The Women's Wilderness Institute, a local nonprofit that offers high quality outdoor adventures and trips for women and teen girls. Due to the small size of the meeting room at REI, I have limited the RSVP to 12. Depending on how long the class lasts, maybe we can grab some coffee or dessert afterward. Based on past experience, though, the classes tend to last until the store closes at 9pm.
