Event details: USBC Women's Championships
Description
Description: The United States Bowling Congress Women's Championships will undergo major format changes in 2010 when the event opens in a specially constructed arena setting in El Paso, Texas.
The Women's Championships, which has a history that dates to 1916, will consist of three average-based divisions named Diamond, Ruby and Sapphire, and competition will be contested using 100 percent handicap.
The Diamond Division will be made up of bowlers with averages of 180 and higher, with handicap based on 220. The Ruby Division pits bowlers with averages from 150-179 against each other, with handicap based on 180, while the Sapphire Division is for bowlers with an average of 149 and below, with handicap based on 150.
Bowlers will still battle for scratch titles in team, doubles, singles and all-events in 2010 and will have the option of entering a special scratch prize fund.
In 2010, the Women's Championships will be contested in a stadium setting. Lanes will be specially constructed inside the El Paso Convention and Performing Arts Center, along with state-of-the-art scoreboard displays and vendors.
