Description
Newbie friendly - Easy-Double Rock Park Trail Enjoy a remarkably isolated spot where Stemmers Run meanders over a slew of rocks in the heart of heavily populated Parkville. The Parkville Recreation Council manages the Double Rock recreational area, which nestles into the urban sprawl of the surrounding neighborhoods and nearby Beltway. You can easily miss it—and you’ll just as easily be wowed by the very wild feel of its trails. This is a combined event for walkers and hikers and is also family/pet friendly. Trail Information Activity Type: Hiking Nearby City: Parkville Length: 2.25 total miles Trail Type: Loop Skill Level: Easy Duration: 1 hour Season: Year-round Trailhead Elev: 50 feet Top Elev: 250 feet Local Contacts: Double Rock Park Weather Information We hike rain or shine! Click here for up to the minute weather information for the trailhead Carpool Information If you can drive or want to carpool from a location, please post your location in the comment section below. For those who need a ride, reach out to the drivers. Make friends, and support the environment - by just offering a ride! Directions to the Trailhead Click here for Directions to the Trailhead and where we meet. Hike and trailhead meetup time is at 8:00 AM Gear Information Here are some suggestions for what to wear and what not to wear for our hikes. Please remember we are a social hiking group that values fellowship and camaraderie and practice good hike etiquette. We take breaks as necessary and have at least one guide in the front in addition to a "sweeper" in the back and guides/sweepers are equipped with two way waterproof FRS/GMRS radios with a GPS navigator and NOAA weather in addition to polling for optimum safety on the trail, which means that no hiker is left behind. If you get upset because someone has to rest at the top of a hill etc. then find another group! We are very supportive, encouraging, and focus on safety while getting or staying fit on the trail and practicing leaving no trace Fido is welcome on this hike:) Please take my number with you just in case... See ya on the trail and let's have good times! Kellie C. 405.714.3160
