The Parkville Recreation Council manages the Double Rock recreational area, which nestles into the urban sprawl of the surrounding neighborhoods and nearby Beltway. You can easily miss it—and you’ll just as easily be wowed by the very wild feel of its trails. This is a combined event for walkers and hikers and is also family/pet friendly. Hike and trailhead meetup time is at 8:00 AM Gear Information Here are some suggestions for what to wear and what not to wear for our hikes. Please remember we are a social hiking group that values fellowship and camaraderie and practice good hike etiquette. We take breaks as necessary and have at least one guide in the front in addition to a "sweeper" in the back and guides/sweepers are equipped with two way waterproof FRS/GMRS radios with a GPS navigator and NOAA weather in addition to polling for optimum safety on the trail, which means that no hiker is left behind. If you get upset because someone has to rest at the top of a hill etc. then find another group! We are very supportive, encouraging, and focus on safety while getting or staying fit on the trail and practicing leaving no trace Fido is welcome on this hike:) Please take my number with you just in case...
