Description of Activity : 6 CEUs
Time of Day for face to face will be Saturdays Jan 24th 9-5pm and June 9-10 4-8pm
Instructors are Dr. Jim Botti and Dr. Linda Hayden
This course, The Heat is On! Confronting Climate Change in the Classroom, will focus on global climate change and its interactions with the cryosphere. This activity is sponsored by the Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Research (CERSER).
Participants of this workshop will:
-Develop an understanding of the fundamentals of climate change, including global and regional impacts.
-Understand basic ice sheet dynamics and the tools used to measure the polar ice sheets.
-Understand the role of the polar ice sheets in the climate system and sea level rise.
-Develop a set of classroom resources and a plan for their implementation.
-Become familiar with a variety of climate change resources available for classroom use.
Participants will be evaluated on:
-Ten online assignments (~3 hours each)
-Group work and presentations
