And when he wrote his German Requiem, he aimed to console the living with some of the most moving, most heartfelt and - yes - most spiritual music ever written. Lawrence Renes conducts one of the world's great operatic singers, Canadian bass-baritone Gerald Finley, in the latest masterpiece from Peter Lieberson, whose heart-rending Neruda Songs stormed the classical charts in the USA.
