Can machines think? This new film by AL and AL, with post-screening artist Q&A, tells of Britain’s greatest scientist in the development of computer science Alan Turing, and plays with his pioneering idea to make thinking machines.
The film enters Turing's dreams and memories in the last few hours of his life as he contemplates suicide with a poisoned apple, and imagines a future where thinking machines will search for him as their Creator.
Atmosphere is one of New Media Scotland's research programmes at Inspace. First premiered at the 2010 EIFF, it re-imagines the concept of Atmospheric movie theaters from the 1920s and 30s.
Each expanded screening uses new and unexpected forms of video and audio projection technology, multi-sensory interactives and live elements. Our thematic this season is belief with research catalysts of faith and magic.
