Novice Digital Capture and Photoshop

Learn to create stronger nature images immediately in the field. Fundamentals of digital photography with nature as our subject matter will be discussed and reviewed in every session. We will experience the basics of digital capture while we focus on the creative aspects of nature photography. Our cameras various controls and menu selections will be explored step-by-step, including the zoom lens, viewfinder, focus control, ISO, aperture and shutter controls, resolution, and battery power. This is a hands-on workshop and the how we use that control now will be explored outside together. Then we will walk into Arcadias indoor classroom. We will immediately learn how to transfer the images in our camera to a laptop computer. Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.0 will be used to demonstrate methods of color correction and some basic image enhancement. We will leave each and every class with an improved version of that nights original capture. This is a learn-by-doing experience. We will be invited to practice at home with fun and creative weekly assignments. Each night our new images are discussed in an informal critique session with warmth and respect. Participants need to bring in an inexpensive flash drive to class. The instructors laptop will be used to transfer images to our flash drives weekly. Registration is required.
