Ariadne auf Naxos is directed by Opera Ireland’s artistic director, Dieter Kaegi and the costumes and sets have been designed by the award - winning designer Stefanie Pasterkamp. Their adaptation evokes the colours, vibe and energy of Andy Warhol’s wild parties of the 1970’s. Setting the opera in a familiar 1970’s party scene, part ‘ Studio 54 ’, part ‘ Abigails Party ’, capturing the hedonistic lifestyle of that era and making the opera speak to an early 21st Century audience just as the original did in Germany in 1912.
